In the final Lambert Cup poll of the season, the Wildcats (12-3), based on their phenomenal run to the FCS Playoff semifinals, finished ahead of fellow FCS Playoff participants Lehigh (12-1), Yale (9-3), and Rhode Island (11-3) in the first year of the resurrection of the in-season Lambert Cup polling this season.

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks were picked No. 1 in the initial Lambert Cup poll of 2025, selected by the Lambert Cup Committee.
In 2022, the ECAC announced the last formal winner of what was then the ECAC Lambert Cup, the College of the Holy Cross. In 2025, with a brand new reorganized set of legacy Lambert Cup voters, the Lambert Cup committee has awarded the FCS Lambert Cup retroactively for the years it went unawarded.
On October 20th, 2025, a more than fifty year old Eastern Football tradition was revived for FCS college football.
